The art direction and the exaggerated style, the strong silhouettes, the jagged lines, the asymmetry, have always been my favourite things about this gaming franchise, so I finally had to get myself one of the art books (the first one sadly appears to be out of print, selling for up to 10 times the original price), and I was not to be disappointed.

It's cool enough to own the art works and designs that made it into the game and the promotion material on good quality paper, but nothing beats the excitement of being able to take a peek at the creative process behind the art work, and, most importantly all the designs that didn't make the cut (there's a concept of an angel junk pedlar and an alternative design for the Wailing Host that I'm particularly fond of). It's very inspirational. If asked what could have made this art book better -- no! Even more perfect -- I'd have to say: more commentary by the creative team (this section is the slimmest).
